Is NIFT 2022 Application Form Out?

 


On December 3, 2021, the National Institute of Fashion Technology launched the NIFT Application Form 2022 in an online format. Students have till January 17, 2022 to fill out the NIFT application form and pay the normal price. On February 6, the NIFT entrance exam 2022 will be held.The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) holds an entrance exam to select candidates for admission to its design programmes, which include Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM), and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech) (MFTech). NIFT is a pioneer in the field of fashion education, with its headquarters in New Delhi. NIFT has campuses in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Shillong, Raebareli, Srinagar, and Panchkula, in addition to its headquarters in New Delhi.

If you are preparing for the NIFT entrance 2022 entrance exam, here is a quick review of the application procedure, eligibility criteria and reservation seats update for you to be aware of the rules and changes if any.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelors/ Undergraduate Programme

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes (B.F.Tech)


  • To be eligible to apply, a candidate's age must be less than 24 years old on August 1st of the admission year. 
  • Candidates from Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Persons With Disabilities (PWD) categories may have their upper age restriction modified by 5 Years.

Bachelor of Design – B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)


  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 schooling in any subject.
  • Candidates who have completed a three- to four-year diploma programme accredited by the AICTE or a state board.
  • Candidates who are appearing for the 10+2 exam.
  • Candidates who have graduated from a foreign university that is recognised by the Indian Universities Association.
  • A passing grade in the National Open School's Senior Secondary School Examination, with a minimum of five subjects.Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech.)
  • A qualifying grade in the National Open School's Senior Secondary School Examination with a minimum of five subjects, including Physics and Mathematics.
  • A three- or four-year diploma in any engineering branch approved by the AICTE or a state board of technical education is required.
  • Candidates who have graduated from a foreign university that is recognised by the Indian Universities Association.

Filling out the NIFT Application Form 2022 in Steps

  • NIFT 2022 registration is now open.
  • Vist the https://nift.ac.in/ to register your interest
  • Fill out the NIFT 2022 application form with your personal information.
  • Provide information about your educational background.
  • Upload a scanned image of your signature and your photos.
  • The registration cost must be paid.
  • The NIFT application form can be downloaded and printed.

NIFT Documents Required for NIFT 2022 Entrance Exam  

Students who are filling up the form for NIFT 2022 entrance exam are required to keep the mentioned documents ready for no delay in completing the procedure. It also is important to fill the form correctly and upload the documents in the appropriate amount mentioned.

Seats Reservation

The following are the seats reserved for various categories in each programme:

  • Scheduled Castes: 15% 
  • Scheduled Tribes: 15% 
  • Other Backward Communities: 7.5 percent (non creamy) 
  • People with disabilities account for 27% of the population (PWD) 5% of total (horizontal reservation cutting across categories)
  • Within open Category seats, EWS ten percent
  • 15 percent foreign nationals/SAARC/NRI (supernumerary)
  • State-owned properties account for 20% of the total (supernumerary)
  • At the Srinagar Campus, Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh received 35%.

NIFT's eligibility and entrance standards must be met by qualified candidates. If you fall into any such category. Make sure you have a valid legal document to prove the significant reservation.

How to Get Admission to NIFT

 


To get admission into NIFT, one has to give the NIFT entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Following are the steps one to start his/her journey in NIFT

Step1. Fill NIFT Application Form

Step 2. Download NIFT Admit Card

Step 3. Prepare for the Exam (Coaching/Self-Study)

Step 4. Give NIFT Entrance Exam

Step 5. Check Written Exam Result

Step 6. Appear for NIFT Situation Test or GD/PI

Step 7. Check NIFT Entrance Exam Final Result

Step 8. Participate in NIFT Counseling

NIFT has set some basic eligibility criteria that are compulsory for the candidate planning to give the Exam.

On the basis of Age

1.  24 is the maximum age allowed for general category candidates as of 1st August 2021.

2.  5 years of relaxation is given to the candidates belonging to SC/St or Differently Able Person Candidates.

3. There is no limit on age for the candidates applying for the master's Programs.

                                               

On the basis of Academic Qualification

1. Candidate below 18 years of age has to compulsory submit an affidavit or Rs.10 non-judicial stamp paper duly signed by parents/guardian.

2. Candidate has to submit their highest qualifying degree to the allotted college before the final submission date.

3. If a candidate result has not been declared at the time of admission, he/she has to give relevant proof of clearing the examination for seeking provisional admission

4. Candidates seeking provisional admission can bring admit card/certificate from the principal as their relevant proof of having taken the exam.

5. Candidates who are seeking provisional admission will be considered only if the result has been delayed by their institution or university.

   In any other case, the application will be rejected.

How to get admission to UG courses?

1. One can get into the BDes program through a valid score in Creative Ability Test(CAT) and General Ability Test(GAT), Followed by a Situation Test conducted by the institute.

2. NIFT conducts a General Ability Test(GAT) for getting admission in BFTech Programs

How to get admission in PG courses?

1. Candidates have to clear the first step i.e. to clear the CAT and GAT exam for the MDes Programs. For the Final Selection/Round, Candidates have to clear a GD/PI round.

2. For Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech) program, Candidates first have to clear the GAT exam, followed by a GD/PI round.

3. Admission to Continuing Education (CE) is merit-based


NIFT 2021 Seat Reservation

The seats are reserved according to the reservation criteria for ST/Sc/OBC/PHP and other categories.

1. 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST.

2. 15% of seats are reserved for SC.

3. 27% of seats are reserved for OBC-NCL.

4. 3% seats are reserved for PHP(with40% or more disability).

5. 15% of seats are reserved for NRI/Foreign Nationals/SAARC.

6. 20% of seats are reserved for State Domicile.

7.35% seats within 30 seats are reserved for Jammu & Kashmir State Domiciled.
